So I have been neglecting using EndNote to manage my citations for a very long time, but finally I decided this is the opportunity to explore it and see what it’s all about. Based on my experience from recording the motivational interviewing videos, I immediately went to YouTube to watch a few tutorials and learn first rather than stumble through it and try to troubleshoot along the way. I first watched this video “How to Use in EndNote in 7 minutes” and there’s even a Mac version which apparently only requires 6 minutes, go figure. I then got about halfway through this 50 minute video that details how to use Microsoft Word and EndNote together.
I also found this useful link that allows you to format your paper’s references based on the preferences of LOTS of popular journals including JAMA and the NEJM. I can’t believe how much time I wasted before when I manually reformatted my references each time I had to submit my paper to a new journal.
Overall, it’s turning out to be totally worth the investment, and the UCI bookstore has a discount for students too!
