Teaching medical students how to analyze large data

NYU School of Medicine is helping its students process large amounts of health data and requiring them to learn how to do so! All first and second year students are required to complete a “health care by the numbers” project in which students are given access to over 5 million de-identified inpatient and outpatient patient data points. The students must find patterns and come up with areas to focus on quality improvement. This is a great innovation in medical medication preparing students to practice in the 21st century!
