Stanford Engineers Have Designed a Home Urine Dipstick Testing Using Smartphone Cameras

This clever contraption manages to overcome the hurtle of inconsistent home-testing settings through a mechanism that perfectly distributes the amount of urine sample onto the strip, an easy to assemble box for controlling lighting, and a smartphone app that will analyze the color results once the camera is place on the box.  While it is not yet clear if this will come to market, it does offer an interesting look into how future home testing kits might be combined with telemedicine to decrease the need of actually going to the doctor’s office or hospital.
