Nanoparticle “barcode” helps doctors personalize cancer treatment

Researchers in Israel have created a system for determining whether a treatment is appropriately targeting cancer cells long before clinical effects or changes in tumor size can be detected.  Cancer drugs are delivered via nanoparticles attached with strands of synthetic DNA. Then a biopsy is scanned for these DNA “barcodes” to identify which drugs are gathering around the tumor and which are not.
