Diagnosing breast cancer using red light

Optical mammography is a technique using infrared light to diagnose breast malignancies in conjunction with regular X-ray mammography. Infrared can determine suspicious increases in blood flow and oxygen use in areas of the brewer identified on X-ray, possibly preventing unnecessary biopsies.
